THE DISSENTER FOR SPACE STUDIES

Curator in Residence Claire Feeley’s project is entitled THE DISSENTER FOR SPACE STUDIES. It seeks to empower studio-holders to collaborate, experiment and explore the possibilities of artists occupying vacant commercial properties, whilst also providing a critical and historical context for artist-led-initiatives and artist-led activity at properties with various limitations and possibilities. All 20 artists selected via the open call process will be profiled as part of this project, and a series of invitations extended to further artists to activate buildings through events, provocations, social gatherings, print, talk or performances. The physical outcome of The Dissenter for Space Studies is a website www.dissenter.space; a 4 x part artist-designed risograph periodical (profiling all participating artists and including essays to provide a historicand critical context to Artist-Run-Initatives and underused spaces); a test space at Henderson Row; and a programme of events, commissions and talks with invited and commissioned artists.
