Sorour Fattahi

‘A Moment of Eternity’ is a series of paintings by multi-media artist Sorour Fattahi. The work addresses women’s growth and mental strength based on myths and stories of women who walked through the barriers of their past traumas and expanded their outlooks of what they choose to become. Hair and plants are used as symbols of personality and growth and the sharp edges of tools in the women’s possession have turned to combs to emphasize the feminine energies in the path to rebirth.

Sorour Fattahi is a multi-disciplinary artist whose works express the dichotomy of her traditional upbringing in Iran and the culture of Western societies after her migration. Her works reflect a female migrant artist who lives in-between countries, languages and cultural norms. She is interested in concepts regarding identity and belonging. The inspirations for her works are tales and stories of real and fictional characters as well as her everyday life experiences. She was born and raised in Iran. In 2011 she migrated to the UK. She holds an MScR in Art from The University of Edinburgh and since August 2022 she has been residing in Aberdeen.
