Edinburgh College of Art x Outer Spaces Graduate Prizes 2026

We are thrilled to announce that ECA Graduates Ella Crawford, Natasha Faulkner and Lyndsay McColl have been awarded the Outer Spaces Graduate Prize 2026.

Outer Spaces is committed to supporting early career artists and recognise the challenges faced by new graduates when progressing from higher education to professional practice. We are delighted to be working with Edinburgh College of Art to launch the first in a series of annual Outer Spaces Graduate Prizes, designed to support this transitional time in an artist’s career.

The three artists selected from the ECA undergraduate Degree Show 2026 will receive prize money and access to an Outer Spaces studio to support their practice for 3 months.

First Prize - Ella Crawford (@ellacrawfordstudio)
Ella’s practice is rooted in the written word and a desire to cultivate and involve community; both in a temporal and permanent sense. Informed by a fascination with words and communicative signifiers, her practice revolves around the ways in which written language can be translated into three-dimensional objects. Exploring the journey between abstraction and the legible - through and around structures.

Second Prize - Natasha Faulkner (@njf.studio)
Working in painting and ceramic sculpture, Natasha’s work is concerned with the complexity of female experience; interiority, bodily autonomy, and the ways women navigate the world, informed by the history of female representation and personal lived experience.

Third Prize - Lyndsay McColl (@lyndsayanne_)
Lyndsay works in painting, printmaking and installation with an intuitive, non-linear approach that allows themes of memory, grief, and vulnerability to unfold organically. Her work is informed by the quiet accumulation of experience, the ongoing discourse between intention and chance, and the exploration of recollection, space, and the unknown.
