Outer Spaces welcomes two new team members

Armida Taylor has been appointed as Head of Spaces and Alina Ologu is our Artists and Spaces Lead for North and Central Scotland.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to the Outer Spaces team. As our new Head of Spaces, Armida Taylor has more than 20 years of experience in the visual arts sector, with a strong track record of supporting artists, leading complex projects, and strengthening cultural organisations. She joins Outer Spaces from Fruitmarket, where she has worked since 2002, most recently as Head of Operations and a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

During her tenure at Fruitmarket, Armida led major capital and public art projects, including the £4.3 million redevelopment and extension of the gallery and the delivery of Martin Creed’s permanent public artwork 'Work No 1059' on Edinburgh’s Scotsman Steps. Her role has encompassed strategic leadership across operations, finance, fundraising, governance, and people management, alongside a deep commitment to fair work, access, and sustainability.

Armida’s career has been shaped by a longstanding dedication to creating the best possible conditions for artists to develop and present their work. She brings extensive experience working collaboratively with artists, partners, and stakeholders, and a strong understanding of how spaces can support artistic practice.

Armida told us, “I am delighted to join the team at Outer Spaces and to take on this newly created role supporting the growth of this young organisation, which has a vital role in Scotland's visual art sector.”

Alina Ologu joins us as the new Artists and Spaces Lead for North and Central Scotland. With nearly a decade of experience in the arts, she brings a strong background in contemporary art and the development of diverse cultural projects. Alina has worked closely with artists, a wide range of stakeholders, and managed diverse teams.

Alina said, "I am thrilled to be joining Outer Spaces during this exciting period of growth and I'm eager to support the organisation’s development work in strengthening the artistic communities across the North and Central regions of Scotland."

"We are excited Armida and Alina are arriving at this point in the evolution of Outer Spaces. The knowledge and experience they bring to the team will be invaluable as we continue to grow, refine and strengthen our programme of support for artists in Scotland."
